The NAMI Family Support Group is a peer-led support group for adult family members, caregivers and loved ones (18+) of individuals living with mental illness. Gain insight from the challenges and successes of others facing similar circumstances.
The NAMI Fargo Family Support Group will be led by two NAMI Family Support Group Model trained support group facilitators, Heather Zinger and Ganesh Padmanabhan. A third trained facilitator, Bailey Schumann will serve on an as needed basis.
By sharing experiences in a safe and confidential setting, support group attendees can gain hope and develop supportive relationships. This group allows for all voices to be heard, and provides an opportunity for personal needs to be met. It encourages empathy, productive discussion and a sense of community. Attendees will benefit through other’s experiences, discover inner strength and learn how to identify local resources and how to use them.
“The NAMI Signature Family Support Group Model is truly incredible in what it offers to families, caregivers and loved ones. It truly is a place where people can seek support in a safe, nonjudgmental setting,” said Zinger.
NAMI’s mission is to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
